   MAKING THE STATUE

PAGE TWO: THE MAKING OF MISTER LEE, A PHOTO JOURNAL.

Two close up images side by side of the miniature statue's feet in clay and then with finished handmade kung fu slippers
First, the socks go on. They're more like ankle warmers. Once the kung fu slippers go on, no one will know except you and I.

The soles are wrapped in very fine vinyl. Embedded into the soles of the feet are magnets. The top of the base will be metallic.

The chain links were individually wrapped around tweezers and formed to get that standard shape. The hanging stick was also a toothpick coated in stone clay.

Applied the first coat of primer. Due to the thickness of the primer, some details were lost. Espeically in the face. The second nunchaku stick and chain to be reattached later.

I was expecting to make revisions once the first coat of skin paint went on. The proportions had changed due to the paint thickness. This annoyance would plague me on every statue.

You can imagine after a second coat... and there's no way around it because the details are so fine. Lots of revising and touchups from here on before adding the sleeves to the pulled down catsuit.

Revisions are just about done.

Wishful thinking...

Although, I'm happy with the progress, something bugged me, but I pressed on anyway in denial.

Completed the body. That 'something' revealed itself in the face. The more I tried to repair it, the more I was hurting it.
