retractable cutter (sliced finger trying to remove Chen Zhen's leg--he didn't go down without a fight!), scoring stylus = awesome, tang gouge = best for digging out armpits,
skew chisel = favorite tool, needler (self made) great for detailing, needle file = 2nd favorite tool, first needler (self made), jewelry pliers (making accessories, clothing, etc.).
Staedtler Mars Technico Pencil--using it since college days, retractable cutter pen (detailing), needle file = for rough surfaces, 2 polymer clay / wax carving tools--also
used by dentists to scrape nasty plaque coated teeth (can't imagine making a living looking inside and cleaning other people's teeth), frame chisel = shaving off large areas of clay, fan brush = great duster,
manicure scissors (cutting circular shapes and doll hair), all purpose scissors (mainly fabrics).
I use a variety of sandpapers ranging from 300 - 1000 grit which are fine to super fine. For polishing, I use a piece of denim and canvas material. Before painting, I will give the statue a quick polish (will leave a blue stain though)
and use a light colored canvas for after painting. If I'm rushing, I'll bust out the G TOOL! Works on teeth with heavy duty plaque as well. Man, the dentist in me is at it again!
