Latest update from Preserved Dragons FB Fan Page: I've been itching to paint his shoes and tracksuit for months now... hope tonight's the night!
Getting all the creases on the tracksuit accurate enough to begin painting is the task at hand. The statue does not have
to be sculpted to perfection because sculpting is a continuous organic process even after paints have been applied.
Once colors are applied, the feel and look of the piece will change due to the lengthy time working and looking at the statue in monochromatic.
So, I never hesitate to add new layers of clay if necessary. The painting phase is by no means the final step in finishing a statue piece. Even with fabric.
